Funeral services were held today for Dr. Edward R. Maxwell, aged Sierra Madra Villa resident, who died Sunday morning at his home there, at the advanced age of 91 years.  The services were conducted by Rev. A.E. Shattuck of the Lake Avenue Congregational church at 2 o'clock, at the chapel of Turner & Stevens.

Dr. Maxwell was known for years as the oldest settler in Sierra Madre Villa, having resided there 31 years.  He was a retired dentist and druggist.  He came to California from Appleton, Wis.  He was a native of Crawfordsville, Ind.  He leaves no relatives closer than nieces and nephews, among whom are Miss S.M. Hallstram, who has made her home with him.  Mrs. Louis Gilland of South Pasadena was a cousin. – thanks to Kim H
